The LokPilot 5 Fx micro and its “twin” LokPilot 5 Fx DCC micro are versatile function decoders with a Next18 interface in a 13.0 mm x 9.2 mm footprint. They are used on all vehicles from nominal size N to H0 that do not have motor power but should still be able to switch lighting effects.
Operating modes
The LokPilot 5 Fx micro is a multi-protocol decoder. It supports the DCC data format as well as Motorola® and Selectrix®. In the DCC format, between 14 and 128 speed levels as well as 2- and 4-digit addresses and up to 32 functions are standard. With the help of RailComPlus® technology, the decoders are connected fully automatically to a suitable digital control centre.
It supports all DCC programming modes and can be driven and programmed with compatible digital control centres: Thanks to RailCom®, CV values can be read out on the main track with suitable control centres. Auxiliary registers are available for control panels that can only program CVs 1 to 255.
Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed levels at 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses enable 16 functions to be activated. A built-in programming mode also makes reprogramming possible with the venerable 6021 Control Unit.
The LokPilot 5 Fx micro DCC “only” speaks the DCC protocol, but can also automatically register with the corresponding control centres using RailComPlus®.
The LokPilot 5 Fx micro decoder recognises Märklin® braking paths as well as ZIMO® HLU/ZACK commands or the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake modules or DC voltage is also possible. In addition, it is also stopped by a Selectrix® brake diode. An ABC automatic shuttle train enables automatic travel between two stations. Although this decoder of course has no motor output, this is also important in a function decoder in order to be able to synchronize the control vehicle and the motor vehicle.
The LokPilot 5 Fx micro decoder can be used on analogue DC and AC railways, the LokPilot 5 Fx micro DCC on analogue DC railways. The decoder switches between the operating modes fully automatically "on the fly". Most of the time nothing needs to be set.
The LokPilot 5 Fx micro or LokPilot 5 Fx micro DCC was equipped with an astonishing number of function outputs. There are 6 amplified function outputs, each with 180 mA output current, as well as two logic level outputs for servos or Susi. The brightness of each output can be adjusted separately.
The LokPilot 5 Fx micro are designed to work together with the LokSound 5 and LokPilot 5 decoders: for example, it is possible to equip the locomotive of a multiple unit with a LokSound 5 micro decoder and the control car with a LokPilot 5 Fx micro. Assuming the same address, both behave absolutely identically. The identical arrangement of the CVs makes it easy to coordinate the two decoders.
If desired, a PowerPack can be connected to the LokPilot 5 Fx micro and the LokPilot 5 Fx micro DCC to link dirty rail sections.
Of course, the outputs are protected against overloads. We want you to enjoy your decoder for as long as possible.
